Extra, extra...

The boringness of the last few weeks has now changed to new boringness.  Any change is good I guess.  Finally into product training, 3 days in.  It's ok I guess.  Today I learned about Mac OS's.. it was pretty interesting, but I already knew it so it was kinda a waste of time for me.  I think they're trying to get the training cut from 4 weeks to 3, and I really hope it happens.  It really doesn't need to be that long.

I like the early shift!!  It's 7am til 3:30pm, which is waaaaay better than 1pm-10pm.  And we already had our bid for when training is over.  I was 3/5 on seniority but ended up getting my first pick!!  There was only one shift with weekends off, and while those are my preferred days off it was 12pm-9pm and that sucks.  So I've got 9am-6pm with Friday/Saturday off.  I couldn't believe that it wasn't taken.  Suuuuper happy about that.  So if I do things on a Saturday it won't be fun the next day but I'm really good at sucking it up.

Things are going well otherwise.  It sucks that I've got all this time off in the night now and there's no tv shows or anything to watch.  I get off work 3.5 hours earlier than Luker so our schedules aren't the same really, but that's okay for now.  Maybe tonight we'll go for a drive or something before I pass out.

Luker is going to Cheticamp this weekend with the Stream Boys' Club.  I'll miss him but I also hope to get some bathroom renos done while he's gone... whether that happens or not we'll see I guess.  I have brown paint for the cabinet, and I want to paint the walls green too.  They need to be primed again because the last people put the wrong kind of paint on and it's all peeling off above the shower.  Hmm.. I should go clean the walls so I have one less thing to do this weekend....

Borrrrrrrrrrrrring!

The contract is in its final stretch and so it's kinda bare bones and no one really cares a whole hell of a lot about anything that's going on.  I think that's a good thing in a way.  It's not like everyone is slacking and no one is going through the motions, but no one is stressed over much these days.  Look forward,  yay!

I have next to nothing to do, and it kinds sucks because I'm bored a lot.  I walk around and visit people because I can.  It's fun, but in the end it doesn't take up a whole lot of time.  I have 5 qualities to do this week and 4 of them are already done.  Tomorrow there should be some data to go through, which isn't too fun, but does occupy time so I like it over nothing.  Plus I have til Friday to do it!

Going to a wedding this weekend in Mabou.  Should be fun times.  Not much family coming home for it, but it will still be nice to say hello to the ones who do show up.  After the supper we're going to head up Cape North to Shawn's cabin.  His dad will be there so we'll hang there for the night before heading back home Sunday.  Dave moved in just in time to watch the dogs for us.  I know they would love to come with us but I don't want to leave them in the car while we're at the wedding and supper.

Well, I'm gonna go do some more nothing.

Bye Bye Vacation

It's Tuesday already :(  There's only tomorrow and the rest of today left of my "vacation."  I really didn't enjoy the first two months at alllll but this last month I was able to get out more and now I'm pretty mobile.. I can drive and stuff and now I have to go back.  Phooey.  I wish I could stay home more haha.  But I am also looking forward to going back to work... I guess.

Anyway, I painted my kitchen cabinets.  Ugh, oil based paint.. looks pretty and stuff but takes way too long to dry!  I have the fan on it now to see if I can speed it up a bit.  I'm making fish cakes for supper so at least I won't need much from the cupboards.  Not like I have a choice I guess.

I'm super addicted to strawberry lemonade now.  MmmMm.  I had like 4 glasses last night and I've got one in the making now.  So yummy, I love it.  I used to order them at Red Robin in Seattle and they had free refills so I'd like down my first glass and always have another.  Just make lemonade with strawberries in it.. best if you mash up the strawberry and get some of the juices out with sugar.. since ya need sugar in lemonade anyway it works.

Nothing else new here.. life is life.  Trying to contain the doggies so they don't wreck the paint!

Woooohoooo

I'm really lovin the time off now.  I'm more mobile so I can get out of the house almost any time I want.  I can even drive now, but I'm not comfortable enough to go very far or take anyone with me.  But still, it's nice to be able to do stupid trips like going to the dollar store.

My physio isn't too bad.  They basically gave me a pamphlet and said to look at the pretty pictures.. ya know, monkey see monkey do.  It's alright.  I hate seeing how much more I can move my left ankle than my right, but the range of motion should come back with time.  At least I should be good to go for the wedding!!  She said that heels might be a problem, which is fine because I don't wear any anyway.  Altho I do have a really cute pair I bought years ago but have yet to wear.  Dah well..

I started playing with photoshop a lot lately for something to do.  I have a pen-mouse type thing that I barely use, so it's all dusted off now and getting some action.  Makes it a lot easier to control the mouse for sure.  And it takes up time I'd spend watching tv.  I started painting again too.  Yipee!  But it's acrylic paint and I'm used to oil, so it's a big change.  Oil paint takes like several days to a week to dry depending on the colour, and acrylic is like a few minutes to an hour or so, so I find it's more challenging.  It's like the difference between 25 Edit->Undo's with oil and 2 Edit->Undo's with acrylic.  But oh well.

Everyone should be on Facebook.

Yadda Yadda Blah

So life is still quite boring.  It's not like I lead a very exciting life or anything, but I had the choice to go out.  Walking up the stairs wasn't even something to think about.  Dah well, that's life.

So tomorrow I am going to Stayin Alive, the tribute thing to the Bee Gees.  I'm not too excited about it, but Shawn just started talking to his dad again recently and they invited us to go, so.. that's how that happened.  I'm glad he's talking to his dad again, it's a good thing.  I like him and his wife.. they actually ask us to do things like go ice fishing (sooo disappointed I didn't get to go this year!) and stuff like that.

Anyway, Luker just brought home tea, which I'm addicted to mostly because of the roll up the rim that I never win on.  Hope everyone is doing something exciting :P

Borrrred

I made a cool cd yesterday and had to download a bunch of music for it.  The bestest thing for finding songs is http://music.yahoo.com.  You can search for a song and then it has this section "people who like this song also like..." so you can find other songs to put on there.  And you can listen to a 30 second sample to see if it's any good.  It was good cuz I knew the other songs, but never knew their names.  Now I just need to be able to drive so I can listen to it.

I'm makin shepherd's pie for the first time ever today.  I hope it works out okay.  Not that I'll eat it, but I hope Shawn likes it.  I'm missing a few ingredients but I think I can handle that.  Maybe I'll have KD.. mmmm :)

K I don't really have anything to say, but this filled up some time.  Anyone who's not yet on facebook should sign up.

Hi, my name is Anne

And I'm sooooooooo addicted to eBay.  I've spent hours and hours browsing on there in the last week.  Looking for flea medication, makeup, cases for my new treo (pink!) :)  I've had people steal my auctions - ugh, can you believe this guy bid with 6 seconds remaining!  And I payed that injustice forward to a couple of chicks, and ended up winning with 23 seconds to spare :)  Things are sooo cheap on there compared to in stores.  I know you have to pay for shipping, and sometimes that's not worth it, but a lot of times it is!  I can't really say what I bought cuz it's kind of going to be a surprise for someone... but I did buy flea medication fer like 1/3 of the price I'd pay at the vet!

Not much else going on here.  I'm going to visit my sister in the valley on Sunday.  It'll be fun, at least to have a change of scenery.  She just got a new house down there last week.  Annnnnd she just got a new puppy!!  And I can't wait to see him.  He's a mix between a poodle and a golden retreiver, called a golden doodle.  It sounds kinda gross, but really they are adorable, so take a look: http://www.bbcanada.com/pics/4896i.jpg

Well that's about the extent of how exciting my life is...

Wowzers

So I just got an email from SunLife.  I was thinking I would finally be getting paid, but nope, not yet.  But I logged in and took a look at what claim they were talkin about.  It was for the hospital stay.  Three nights of crappy sleep and crappy food is $390!  I wouldn't be able to afford that.  Thank God for benefits eh.... now I just need some pay in my bank account :/

Shack Wacky

Well today sucked, just like most days this month.  I'm tired of being stuck inside and I hate not being able to do anything, even things I don't normally even want to do!  So I started crying again today, it just all gets to me.  And Shawn laid down in my bed with me and let me cry.  It was good to just get it out.  And then he started making a tally of how much outside time I'm going to have to make up, even counting silly things like walking to and from the car when going to work.  It made me laugh and now everything is better for a little while.

Sigh

Well I went for my follow up appointment today with the orthopedic surgeon.  I hate how it takes 2 hours for a 5 minute conversation.  Anyway, I guess the incisions are getting better.  He had the guy take out every second staple.  It hurts a whole bunch.  The skin on the outsides of your ankle is really sensitive and it sucked a whole bunch.  Next week I'll prolly have to deal with the other half...

I didn't get my walking cast today, like I thought I would.  The walking case would let me put some weight on my ankle.  It's kinda hard sometimes to not put weight on it, especially when trying to get in and out of the bath, my only source of being clean.  So after I left the hospital I went to my folks place to wait for Luker to pick me up.  I fell in the front door, and had to put weight on it, it's just reaction.  Anyway, it didn't hurt so I hope I didn't do any damage.

I was supposed to go up to have a bath tonight and then sleep in my bed with Luker (I didn't get to the other night).  Every time I fall though I just lose my confidence and get scared to go upstairs so I think I'm going to let it go tonight.  I just can't deal with it right now.  This whole thing is really hard on my head.  I'm not in any pain but I cry because I can't do anything.  I can't get a drink from the kitchen, or bring in the mail, make a meal for myself.  It sucks, and I can't do anything about it.  Shawn's been great helping me with all of those things, but it's still a loss of independance.

Anyway, Luker got a new laptop for work.  I love it cuz the battery life will last more than the 30 seconds of the last one.  Plus it has a wireless card and we just bought a new wireless router so it's great because I can use it without any cords.  At least I get to communicate with some of the outside world, which is great.  Well time to get some tylenol and grapes.  Yummm :)

Ouch

Well it's been a whole week since I ended up in the hospital.  My muscles are adjusting to the walker and the crutches.  It used to hurt to lift a glass of water even, but it's all good now.  I'm stuck to a bed pretty much 24 hours a day.  Sometimes I can move to the couch or a chair, but it hurts so bad to go from having my leg elevated to putting it on the floor and having blood rush into it.  The tylenol 3 don't seem to help a whole bunch.

The dogs still like to use me as their bed, which is okay.  They haven't stepped on me yet, thank God.  They are pretty good sources of heat too.  I don't let them sleep with me at night though because I can't really be on guard.

Yesterday sucked a whole bunch.  I couldn't get comfortable at all and was really frustrating.  I think I only cried like 5 times.  Heh.  Today should be better.  We're going for a drive soon while it's still light out.  My parents just got a new puppy (10 weeks) from my aunt who found him too much to handle.  I want to see him and play with him.  Hey's a silky terrier, whatever that looks like.  And tonight I'm going to have another bath, which is super nice because I feel lots cleaner.  And then since I'm going to be upstairs I'm going to sleep in my bed with Luker, for the first time in a week.  So hopefully it will be a good day.

Well time to start getting ready to go... weeeee

Sigh

Well this week sucked so far.  I broke both my ankle bones on Saturday night.  Just got home from the hospital an hour or so ago so it's good to be home.  I met with the doctor today and he said the surgery went well and next week I'll get a hard cast on my foot.  Need the swelling to go down first.  So that's about the only news I got.

I got lotsa TV to catch up on.  Weee!!  And since my doc wants me off for 3 months I got a lot of time to watch it too.  K bye.

The weather outside is frightful!

And the plow just came!  So I went to look out the front window to see how much it piled at the end of our driveway and I can't see outside.  Like not the exagerated version of that, but really, I can't see outside.  Kinda weird because the snow seems to be coming from the back of our house and not the front.

It's crazy out!  They let our training class leave at 7pm.  Thank God!  It's nasty out.  Stream is paying for cabs for the locals to get home.  Yay!!  I was waiting there with like 10 people for a cab and I was at the back of the entrance.  A cab pulled up and everyone was just kinda standing around wondering who was going to get in.  I was like frig that and walked out the door.  They're nuts if they're going to try and be all polite about it and wait.  Screw that.  And then the cabbie said I'd be the first to get home!  10 mins from start to finish.  W00t!!

Hope everyone is safe cuz it's realllllllllllly bad!

Woka Woka

I had one day off this week and it was somewhat enjoyable.  We went to the Wal-Mart yesterday and got a few things.  A shop-vac among other things.  This is good because our vacuum cleaners keep breaking and so I hope this one will prove to stand up to the dog hair!

This is hopefully my last week of training.  Just gotta get through the next 5 days.  Thank God!!  I really hate it, I'm so glad I'm not a trainer.  Then I can move on to my real role.  Last week I worked 53 hours in training.  I won't mind the overtime pay but it sucks otherwise.

In other news.. I think Vista, our cat, is soon to be Vista, our dog.  It just doesn't seem to be happening with the whole cat thing.  It's much easier to go get a dog from the shop, so I think that's the new plan!  We just kinda decided that on a whim last night so I'll give it a few days to make sure it's what we really want.

I'm not feeling too well today.  I'm not sure why.  I woke up in the middle of the night and hugged the toilet.  Hopefully I feel better soon.

Well I should get going.  I've got flyers to read!!

Brrr!

We ran out of oil last night.  It took the oil man 3 hours to bring more.  Then the furnace kicked in for about 5 minutes.  And died a fast death.  Luker and his friend and his friend's dad were trying to fix it.  I got home at 12:30am and there was still no heat.  We let the dogs sleep with us.  I had Luker on one side of me and two dogs on the other.  It was great.  We don't have a heater in our room so it wasn't a really big change.  But I dreaded going to the bathroom.  And waking up.  And leaving my nice warm bed.

Luker turned the oven on when he got up to get warm.  We called the furnace guy.  Two men showed up.  They turned a knob.  The heat is now back and I'm going to have to pay someone to turn a knob.  Pffft!!

Blah, blah, blah

Work is so blah lately!  I'm really tired of training classes.  The training manager came in my class the other night and took a look around and was like "What are you guys doing?" and I don't think she was too impressed with the fact that we weren't doing a damn thing.  This training roadmap that we have to follow is retarded because it leaves two complete days at the end where we don't really do anything!  I mean, there are some very valuable sections to cover those days, such as listen to calls, meet the managers and tech leads, set up your desk and stuff.  But there are no calls to listen to, no managers selected, all the tech leads are busy training, and there are no desks.  It's just kinda boring.  And I'm not exactly one to blabber on about something if I know it's not going to be useful in the long run.

Shawn slept in this morning so we went to breakfast at Colette's.  Yum.  Too much food though.  Half hour lunches is making me eat less, which is a good thing.  I broke one of my weight goals and it feels great, but I know it's just ONE goal out of many.

We still don't have a kitten.  Soon enough though.  I think we'll be going to the SPCA so we can get one that's fixed and needled.  I was thinking about getting it tomorrow but we've both got things planned for tomorrow night so I am not sure how that will pan out.  I don't want to leave it alone its first night.

So that's my nothing post.  Hope everyone else is enjoying their lives.

Weeeeee!

I've been suuuper busy lately.  No time at all to do anything.  I just caught up on most of my e-mails.  Only 6 replies left to be sent... :/

I'm working 7am-3:30pm last week and for the next two weeks.  Today, my first day off, I got to sleep in!  I woke up at 5:50am instead of 5:30am.  Dah well.  I got to see the sunrise!  The sky was kinda cloudy and so the sun reflected a lot of light off them and it looked really red and pretty!  What else is there to do that early in the day...

Shawn's been gone all day.  His aunt passed away the other day and her funeral was today.  That was hours and hours ago but he's still over there.  It's kinda boring here without him.  Especially since the power went out in the middle of the afternoon!  It's back now (obviously) so that's good cuz I am a fan of heat in the winter.

Ooooh we're getting a kitten after Christmas!  We're going to call him Vista :)  I've never had a cat before, so any and all tips are welcome.  Shawn's only criteria is that it has stripes.  For me it's anothing thing to take pictures of!  And I think the doggies will like having their very own pet ;)

Well I hope everyone has a great Christmas!  May you all eat lots of turkey and get lots of presents! :D

Happy Barfday to Me!!

So it was a rough morning.  Very hungover and not fun.  It kida went away about an hour ago though and I was finally able to keep water down and even some chicken noodle soup!  Mmm.  Much better.

I've been talking to some old friends lately kinda out of the blue.  Weird how people grow apart.  They had some big changes in their lives that I didn't even know about.  I suck at keeping in contact with people... but I guess that goes both ways.

Anyway, I don't have anything to say.  Luker rented Blue Crush for me, which is great because our dish just went down so no go on the tv.  Tomorrow is the first training class to go through, and I really hope Gary is there to train it so I don't have to.

Hands Down

So I got the job.  Start Monday!  Craziness.  I was at the bar when they called me.  Weee!!  And Ashley is coming too!!  We've been tech leads together for over a year so some familiarity is definitely welcomed.  I know the other two tech leads so that's good too.  And it's a pay raise!  I don't know how much of one, but anything is better than nothing.  And then in February when I get my yearly raise the percentage will be based on a higher pay so that's good.

I have to train a class to - bleh!  I don't even really know yet what we support officially, but the change will be good I hope.  I will soooo miss Mac though.  Some Mac people are moving over to Vista too (or at least trying to) so I guess even if I stayed it would still be different.  They're going to have to back fill those positions so I kinda hope I can train those guys instead of the Vista crew.  I'm way more familiar with Mac.  The Mac trainers are the Vista trainers too so they'll be tied up regardless.

Not much else is going on around these parts.  The weather is warm lately, although I could use some more sun.  It's very very odd for our furnace to not have been on in the middle of November.  It's great!

Anyway.. I'm gonna see if Luker wants to get breakfast and get some groceries.  See some of you later on this evening!
