The contract is in its final stretch and so it's kinda bare bones and no one really cares a whole hell of a lot about anything that's going on. I think that's a good thing in a way. It's not like everyone is slacking and no one is going through the motions, but no one is stressed over much these days. Look forward, yay!
I have next to nothing to do, and it kinds sucks because I'm bored a lot. I walk around and visit people because I can. It's fun, but in the end it doesn't take up a whole lot of time. I have 5 qualities to do this week and 4 of them are already done. Tomorrow there should be some data to go through, which isn't too fun, but does occupy time so I like it over nothing. Plus I have til Friday to do it!
Going to a wedding this weekend in Mabou. Should be fun times. Not much family coming home for it, but it will still be nice to say hello to the ones who do show up. After the supper we're going to head up Cape North to Shawn's cabin. His dad will be there so we'll hang there for the night before heading back home Sunday. Dave moved in just in time to watch the dogs for us. I know they would love to come with us but I don't want to leave them in the car while we're at the wedding and supper.
Well, I'm gonna go do some more nothing.
I'm really lovin the time off now. I'm more mobile so I can get out of the house almost any time I want. I can even drive now, but I'm not comfortable enough to go very far or take anyone with me. But still, it's nice to be able to do stupid trips like going to the dollar store.
My physio isn't too bad. They basically gave me a pamphlet and said to look at the pretty pictures.. ya know, monkey see monkey do. It's alright. I hate seeing how much more I can move my left ankle than my right, but the range of motion should come back with time. At least I should be good to go for the wedding!! She said that heels might be a problem, which is fine because I don't wear any anyway. Altho I do have a really cute pair I bought years ago but have yet to wear. Dah well..
I started playing with photoshop a lot lately for something to do. I have a pen-mouse type thing that I barely use, so it's all dusted off now and getting some action. Makes it a lot easier to control the mouse for sure. And it takes up time I'd spend watching tv. I started painting again too. Yipee! But it's acrylic paint and I'm used to oil, so it's a big change. Oil paint takes like several days to a week to dry depending on the colour, and acrylic is like a few minutes to an hour or so, so I find it's more challenging. It's like the difference between 25 Edit->Undo's with oil and 2 Edit->Undo's with acrylic. But oh well.
Everyone should be on Facebook.
So life is still quite boring. It's not like I lead a very exciting life or anything, but I had the choice to go out. Walking up the stairs wasn't even something to think about. Dah well, that's life.
So tomorrow I am going to Stayin Alive, the tribute thing to the Bee Gees. I'm not too excited about it, but Shawn just started talking to his dad again recently and they invited us to go, so.. that's how that happened. I'm glad he's talking to his dad again, it's a good thing. I like him and his wife.. they actually ask us to do things like go ice fishing (sooo disappointed I didn't get to go this year!) and stuff like that.
Anyway, Luker just brought home tea, which I'm addicted to mostly because of the roll up the rim that I never win on. Hope everyone is doing something exciting :P
Well I went for my follow up appointment today with the orthopedic surgeon. I hate how it takes 2 hours for a 5 minute conversation. Anyway, I guess the incisions are getting better. He had the guy take out every second staple. It hurts a whole bunch. The skin on the outsides of your ankle is really sensitive and it sucked a whole bunch. Next week I'll prolly have to deal with the other half...
I didn't get my walking cast today, like I thought I would. The walking case would let me put some weight on my ankle. It's kinda hard sometimes to not put weight on it, especially when trying to get in and out of the bath, my only source of being clean. So after I left the hospital I went to my folks place to wait for Luker to pick me up. I fell in the front door, and had to put weight on it, it's just reaction. Anyway, it didn't hurt so I hope I didn't do any damage.
I was supposed to go up to have a bath tonight and then sleep in my bed with Luker (I didn't get to the other night). Every time I fall though I just lose my confidence and get scared to go upstairs so I think I'm going to let it go tonight. I just can't deal with it right now. This whole thing is really hard on my head. I'm not in any pain but I cry because I can't do anything. I can't get a drink from the kitchen, or bring in the mail, make a meal for myself. It sucks, and I can't do anything about it. Shawn's been great helping me with all of those things, but it's still a loss of independance.
Anyway, Luker got a new laptop for work. I love it cuz the battery life will last more than the 30 seconds of the last one. Plus it has a wireless card and we just bought a new wireless router so it's great because I can use it without any cords. At least I get to communicate with some of the outside world, which is great. Well time to get some tylenol and grapes. Yummm :)
And the plow just came! So I went to look out the front window to see how much it piled at the end of our driveway and I can't see outside. Like not the exagerated version of that, but really, I can't see outside. Kinda weird because the snow seems to be coming from the back of our house and not the front.
It's crazy out! They let our training class leave at 7pm. Thank God! It's nasty out. Stream is paying for cabs for the locals to get home. Yay!! I was waiting there with like 10 people for a cab and I was at the back of the entrance. A cab pulled up and everyone was just kinda standing around wondering who was going to get in. I was like frig that and walked out the door. They're nuts if they're going to try and be all polite about it and wait. Screw that. And then the cabbie said I'd be the first to get home! 10 mins from start to finish. W00t!!
Hope everyone is safe cuz it's realllllllllllly bad!
We ran out of oil last night. It took the oil man 3 hours to bring more. Then the furnace kicked in for about 5 minutes. And died a fast death. Luker and his friend and his friend's dad were trying to fix it. I got home at 12:30am and there was still no heat. We let the dogs sleep with us. I had Luker on one side of me and two dogs on the other. It was great. We don't have a heater in our room so it wasn't a really big change. But I dreaded going to the bathroom. And waking up. And leaving my nice warm bed.
Luker turned the oven on when he got up to get warm. We called the furnace guy. Two men showed up. They turned a knob. The heat is now back and I'm going to have to pay someone to turn a knob. Pffft!!
I've been suuuper busy lately. No time at all to do anything. I just caught up on most of my e-mails. Only 6 replies left to be sent... :/
I'm working 7am-3:30pm last week and for the next two weeks. Today, my first day off, I got to sleep in! I woke up at 5:50am instead of 5:30am. Dah well. I got to see the sunrise! The sky was kinda cloudy and so the sun reflected a lot of light off them and it looked really red and pretty! What else is there to do that early in the day...
Shawn's been gone all day. His aunt passed away the other day and her funeral was today. That was hours and hours ago but he's still over there. It's kinda boring here without him. Especially since the power went out in the middle of the afternoon! It's back now (obviously) so that's good cuz I am a fan of heat in the winter.
Ooooh we're getting a kitten after Christmas! We're going to call him Vista :) I've never had a cat before, so any and all tips are welcome. Shawn's only criteria is that it has stripes. For me it's anothing thing to take pictures of! And I think the doggies will like having their very own pet ;)
Well I hope everyone has a great Christmas! May you all eat lots of turkey and get lots of presents! :D
So I got the job. Start Monday! Craziness. I was at the bar when they called me. Weee!! And Ashley is coming too!! We've been tech leads together for over a year so some familiarity is definitely welcomed. I know the other two tech leads so that's good too. And it's a pay raise! I don't know how much of one, but anything is better than nothing. And then in February when I get my yearly raise the percentage will be based on a higher pay so that's good.
I have to train a class to - bleh! I don't even really know yet what we support officially, but the change will be good I hope. I will soooo miss Mac though. Some Mac people are moving over to Vista too (or at least trying to) so I guess even if I stayed it would still be different. They're going to have to back fill those positions so I kinda hope I can train those guys instead of the Vista crew. I'm way more familiar with Mac. The Mac trainers are the Vista trainers too so they'll be tied up regardless.
Not much else is going on around these parts. The weather is warm lately, although I could use some more sun. It's very very odd for our furnace to not have been on in the middle of November. It's great!
Anyway.. I'm gonna see if Luker wants to get breakfast and get some groceries. See some of you later on this evening!
